How Name That Note works

1. Pick which strings and frets to practice, or keep the default: the open strings.
2. A dot lights up on the neck. Tap the name of the note it plays.
3. When you finish, you see how many you got right, your typical answer time and a map of the slow spots.

It works like fretboard flashcards: you guess the guitar note from where it sits, many times in a row, until naming it is instant. This kind of guitar note identification is what lets you read a tab and know which notes you're playing.

Where to start

Start with Open Strings, then add one string at a time. Choose sharps or flats in the settings to match the music you read. Left-handed players can flip the board there too. To check an answer later, keep a printable guitar note chart next to you.

What the results show

Besides right and wrong answers, the results map how long each part of the neck took you, so a note you get right but slowly shows up too. The fretboard note identification guide explains each number.
