Note Test Scoring Guide

Ready to try it? Start the guitar note test.

This guide explains how the placement test scores your speed and accuracy so you know exactly what to practice. The assessment runs through open strings, single-string ranges, and landmark frets, then recommends one scope to drill next.

Each scope collects three answers and uses the median response time. Miss a note or exceed the time goal and the test ends, giving you the exact slice of the fretboard to focus on. The test uses natural notes only so the baseline stays consistent.

Treat the recommendation like a weekly plan: drill that scope until you can clear it under the time goal, then retest to confirm improvement. This keeps practice focused instead of guessing what to work on.

When you're ready, run the test, then pair the result with targeted drills in the guitar note finder.
